OSCE Conference On Racism, Xenophobia And Discrimination

Following the Conference on Anti-Semitism held in Vienna on June 19-20, that city will host an OSCE Conference on Racism, Xenophobia and Discrimination on September 4-5. This falls within the framework of the sixth decision relative to tolerance and non-discrimination adopted in December 2002 during the OSCE ministerial meeting in Porto.

It is hoped this Conference will help move current discussions forward, notably within the EU, the Council of Europe and the OSCE, in order to define a permanent strategy to combat the use of the Internet to spread messages of hatred without hampering the freedom of expression. It hopes this meeting will foster the greatest possible awareness among governments, civil society and concerned professionals throughout the entire “OSCE zone” concerning the need to create the necessary legal and technical instruments without delay
