Sir,

Recently, I came accross your article written last year on "Malaysia
Should Boost Education Through Strengthened Human
Rights".http://www.europaworld.org/week296/malaysia23207.html.

I would like to thank you for highlighting the Human Rights Value and
education in Malaysia, however your concern has become a reality on
regards. I'm not sure whether you have heard of the recent peaceful rally organised by the The Malaysian Hindu Rights organisation
that was represented with 5 Human Right Lawyers and consists of 30 NGO's on the 25.11.07 which attracted about 30,000 people.

It would have been much more but for the police's intervention of
cordoning the city four days before the day. The minority had been
suppressed and oppressed by this regime for over 40 years. There is no equality and freedom of any kind, especially religion, education, job
opportunities etc.

Recently, five [lawyers] of the organisers of the peaceful rally on
25.11.07 had been detained under the draconian Internal Security Act
which gives absolute power to the Malaysian govt. to detain indefinitely
without any legal recourse.

However, the chairman of the organisation, Waytha Moorthy managed to come to London at the nick of time before his arrest. He's been having meetings with various NGOs and other goverment bodies.

He is looking forward to rally support in UK and Europe, campaign to
release the 5 Human rights lawyers, defending the poor minority of Indian
orgin and to promote equal opportunity rights in Malaysia.

Thank You

Balu
