Aids on the streets of karachi

The sub-Continent is not associated with AIDS in the same way as sub-Saharan Africa, yet the evil effects of this most insidious disease are seen everywhere. In Pakistan many AIDS sufferers live on the streets, unable to afford the retroviral drugs that delay the onset of the final stages of the illness. Here, in this special EuropaWorld feature, Akhtar Soomro has photographed their plight.
