Pressure on Burmese Government
The
European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling for sanctions
to be imposed against Burma/Myanmar for the release of all political
prisoners in the country including the opposition leader Aung San
Suu Kyi. The resolution also strongly condemned the forced relocation
of 300,000 villagers by the Burmese government and expressed concern
about the spread of HIV - AIDS. The Burmese military government
has one of the worst records on human rights in the entire world.
